• This is a pair of antique Oriental dog bookends. A Chinese, soapstone decorative 'Dog of Fo' book rest, dating approx From the late Victorian period,circa 1900s To Golden Era Of Fifties.
• Delightfully tactile dogs with a lovely natural finish and appearance
• Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout
• Soapstone in good order with warm cream and grey mottled appearance
• Represents a sitting Dog of Fo with the strong Oriental influence
• Great detail to the face and exuberant coat and one paw raised upon a brocade ball

• This is a wonderful pair of antique Oriental dog bookends, with appealing natural colour
• These are a matching pair, representing Yin and Yang, Masculine and feminine. The male is is the right one with its foot on a ball representing the world, the female has its foot on its offspring representing nature or a nurturing spirit. These are not actual "dogs" as the names suggest but are guardian lions.
