Author's sculpture of the famous Soviet animal painter Gennady Glikman (1921-1991).
Dated 1953 according to the exhibition catalogue.
The sculpture is made and painted by the sculptor by hand. Modeling, not casting.
The sculpture was presented at the Exhibition of Works by the Union of Artists of Ukraine of the Kyiv Organization of the Union of Artists of Ukraine in 1988.

Glikman Gennady Naumovich Born in 1921 in the city of Berdichev (Zhytomyr region), a well-known Soviet graphic artist and animal sculptor. He studied at the KShSH (1937-41). Member of the Great Patriotic War. In 1952 he graduated from the Kyiv Art Institute (he studied under I.N. Pleshchinsky and V.I. Kasiyan, studied from 1946 to 1952). Diploma work - a series of watercolors "Askania-Nova" (supervisor Pleshchinsky). Lived and worked in Kyiv. Participated in exhibitions since 1952 (Kyiv). V.A. knew well. Vatagin, whom he revered and idolized. He was on good terms with the famous Leningrad animal sculptor B.Ya. Vorobyov and the famous Moscow animal graphic artist L.V. Khinshtein (it was she who recommended the works of G.N. Glikman to the museum) .. Known as an animal artist (graphic artist), illustrator of children's books, author of images of animals and animalistic plots for postcards and posters of the Kyiv Zoo. Children's Publishing House of the Ukrainian SSR": "Every page is either an elephant or a lioness" by V. V. Mayakovsky (1952); "Sparrow" A.M. Gorky (1953); "My artists" V.L. Durova (1953); "The First Hunt" V, V, Bianchi (1954); "Trouble will teach" L. Ukrainka (1959); "Zoo Askania-Nova" V.D. Treus and D.A., Kramarenko (1960) and others. Among his easel works: "Leopard" (lithograph, 1959); "Newborn" (lithograph, 1960); "Through Turkmenistan" (a series of watercolors, ink, pen, 1961-62); "Motherhood" (series - sanguine, ink, 1965); "Family" (monotype, 1969); "Askanian tales" (series - tempera, 1967) figurines: "Puma with a cub" (1956); "Bison" (1957); "Okapi" (1960).
Back in 1991, his graphic works decorated the halls of the Kyiv Museum of Nature (National Science and Natural History Museum of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine). Glickman died in 1991 in Kyiv, where he was buried.
