Gorillas are the largest living primates - a diverse order of mammals that are among the most social of animals. These herbivorous great apes (Hominidae) inhabit the tropical forests of Africa. Gorillas live in groups or families led by a “Silverback” - a mature male gorilla. A grayish-white hairline around the back and shoulders, along with an imposing size, distinguishes Silverbacks from other gorillas.
The obverse features the Republic of Chad coat of arms over a jungle terrain.
The reverse side displays a close-up, detailed image of a gorilla staring directly at the viewer with bright green eyes.
